  1. Good evening. I noticed, using Michael Ventrice´s hovmollers and the MJO/GWO plots, that the strat warming coincided with a major pulse of convection over the areas that correspond to MJO 5-6, this was followed by a brief orbit towards 7-8-1, that was again followed by persistent convection around 120E - 180E ( despite some heavy peaks in the W indian ocean). My point is, does the maritime convection somehow induce Trop/Strat decoupling, making it harder for the -AO to drop down to the troposphere? or, given that the phase 5-6 MJO has antagonical z500 expression to that of the expected ssw signature, it just acts to counteract the ssw´s effects in the troposphere?
