Banter Thread: Winter 2018-19 Edition

This is an obsession very few can understand. :) I literally have the chills as I listen to these old tracks and look at the old snow graphics and red scrolls.

El Nino verses La nina and Neutral enso for the best snowstorms...my favorite storms by enso in red...I wasn't around for the 1947 storm but I was in my mothers belly for the Dec. 48 storm that dumped 19" in Battery Park...I factored in staying power for my favorites...2016, 2006 and 1983 melted fast in milder temperatures right away...1961 had some cold days after the storm but was the climax to the greatest cold and snowy period for NYC...

El Nino....................La Nina...............neutral..........

Please rank 96, pd2, Boxing Day, 16. I was in college in Ohio for pd2 so cant rank but I’d go Boxing Day, 96, and 16 a distant third. Might even go snowpocolips over 16.

1. 2016 gave me 10 straight hours of blizzard conditions and over 2' of snow

2. Boxing Day was more fun due to the extreme winds in my area while Geoff and Earthlight got CCB-ed to death.

3.  PD2 was pretty epic but tame compared to the other 2.

Personally, I'd put a bunch of storms ahead of PD2.

96 while being lauded as being well modeled still thought the bullseye would be dc with nyc forecasted at much lower totals til Saturday night. I remember watching the weather channel and they mentioned the 0z euro and how big of a shift north and going nuts

1993 was surprisingly well forecasted

Superstorm 1993 was so cool.   While central Alabama was getting 12-18" of snow and while the Florida panhandle was getting a storm surge, this was happening across the eastern Gulf and caused a lot of damage in the Florida peninsula.
